A simple introduction to MOI....
Last week, our MOI group invited our neighboring MOIers for an evening social. It was so simple and we had so much fun together - I wanted to share it with you.
We invited everyone to come prepared to share a poem, story, piece of art, etc. to help us get to know each other better. As we began the love and friendship just soared and suddenly we were making instant connections. There was an almost tangible spirit of love there - it’s the only way to describe the experience. We had about 20 women - maybe a few more, but it could easily be done with just a few friends. There were three who came as guests of MOIers, so we had some great discussions about what MOI is all about and how to find the Catch the Vision class.
We had women singing for us, reading poetry, telling about the latest book they read, sharing some of their own art, and passing around their favorite books for children. One of the guests hadn’t prepared anything for the meeting so she spontaneously shared a song she had composed and recorded on youtube years ago. Of course, it was beautiful, and we loved it. Through some tears, she explained that it had languished on youtube without any notice and our appreciation and acceptance was so meaningful to her, we all felt like her being there that night was no accident.
One mother said this; “It’s so easy to feel less-than, but when I come to MOI I feel my empty bucket being filled, and I leave inspired to learn more and to do more. “ The next morning I woke up feeling just like that.
We snapped a quick picture together and it’s one of my treasures now - a perfect reminder to me of old and new friends all coming together in the very best of MOI.
